26 Weeks

Measuring the baby from head to toe, it's about 14 inches, and a little more than 1.6 pounds. Right about now, the baby's eyes are beginning to open and the reponse to sound is growing more consistent, as the network of nerves to the ears are almost complete. The baby is continuing to take in small breaths of amniotic fluid, practicing for when it's born!

Since the baby is growing so fast, and brain development is so intense at this stage, my nutrition is very important. A well balanced diet is key to a healthy developing baby. Prenatal classes will be starting soon (March), they'll provide us with good, clear information about the birth of our baby, and the early days of parenthood.

Our first appointment with the OB is today - and I'm quite looking forward to it. I've got a couple questions I'd like to ask, specifically about the placenta - I'm wondering if it's moved up yet. I have crossed all my crossables, in hopes that our baby is going to be able to be delivered without a c-section!

Last night, while watching the second 2 hour stint of 24, Rob threw his impatience out the window and rested his hand on my belly, for almost 2 hours. Would you believe that that was the ONLY 2 hours I've had without any movement?? The baby was kicking like crazy before dinner,a nd even now, as we speak, there's little kicks here and there... but as soon as Rob's hand hit my skin, the baby fell into a deep, deep sleep. We joked that it can sense his hand is bigger than mine, and wants to play a trick on daddy. I was a little (ok, a lot) dissappointed, because I wonder if Rob will have the patience again to wait for our little one to kick - I guess we'll see! Until then, I'm encouraging him to read the books we've got (Oh baby the places you'll go - Dr. Suess and others like it) because the baby will recognize his voice, and also it's a way for Rob to feel like he's bonding, before actaully feeling anything.

Anyways, more to come after the OB appt, another weigh in today! Different scale though, so I'm not sure if I'll trust this one!
